Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Motion direction discrimination in the visual system was measured by using random dot kinematograms with very short frame duration. The measurements were carried out on the parameters of frame duration, repetition times of exposure, ratios of signal-dots and manipulations of dot-shift.When the exposureduration was sufficiently short (less than 21 ms),or the ratios of signal-dots decreased, the minimum (D_min>) and the maximum (D_max>) displacements of the motion direction discrimination increased and decreased respectively.Accordingly, the sensitivity of the motion direction discrimination tunes to the displacement range of 8-10 minutes. The sensitivity of motion direction discrimination becomes high at the displacement less than 8 minutes if the repetition time of the exposure increases.
