Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Some of the experiments regarding apparent motion, which had been performed by the Gestaltists and Ullman, were confirmed and re- examined.Based on this experimental evidence,a computational model developed from an elastic net method is introduced in order to determine the most appropriate correspondence between any two successive image frames.A cost function for evaluating the affinity between any pairing of image constituent clements is defined. This function takes into consideration the following four effects:i)The proximity between constituent elements,ii)The compatibility between groups of elements, iii)The competition between element pairings, and iv)The elasticity of the figure. Each element is urged to move under the influence of these four kinds of forces by all elements of the other frame and its neighboring elements. The change of the coordinates of each element is calculated at each iteration and the correspondence progress is visualized.
