Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Internal representation of 2-dimensional shapes were investigated with alphabetic characters as examples.Multiple dimensional analysis were applied on confusion matrices of alphabetic characters obtained from psychological experiments, and on internal representations of artificial neural networks that learned identity transformation of the patterns of characters used in those experiments. The following points were suggested:(1)The characters are mapped in a psychological space, the bases of which represent global features of the characters.(2)The bases are not fixed and depend on the set of characters.(3)The bases are formed through the process of learning.
