Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Simple cells have Gabor-type receptive fields and selectively respond to stimuli with specific spatial frequency, orientation and relative phase. Using models for the simple cells, we propose here a network for extracting eye area on a facial image. The network consists of Gabor filters with different the parameters. Receive excitatory inputs from filters with the eye frequency and inhibitory ones from filters with the lower frequencies. We validate this network for facial images of different persons with various orientations, emotional expressions and viewing sides.
