Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To build up the foundation of recognition, a character recognition system MOHEJI has been designed as a cooperative and competitive network with feedbacks. MOHEJI can only recognize 26 simplified alphabetic characters but in parallel. The an operations are performed as inter-unit interactions which result feature extractions and pattern matching automatically. The pattern recognition capability covers not only noise elimination, but also position-free and size-free recognition, which is reflected from the two dimensional network structure.
