Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a new method for removing redundant units of supervised neural networks. The method is based on iteration of four phases. These are: experimental reduction of a unit, calculating the error of the network using learning patterns, removing redundant units based on the error, and relearning. We have applied the method to a neural filter which has multilayer neural network architecture. We have shown that the method reduces units of both input layer and hidden layer of the neural network with the sufficient ability of the neural network preserved.
