Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Neurons in the primary visual cortex respond selectively to the orientation of edges and their direction of motion. Recently it is revealed the arrangement of direction preference in ferret cortical area 17 that is mosaic-like map. Some iso-orientation domains are subdivided into the regions selective for opposite directions of motion. We used Kohonen's SOM to form the direction map with orientation map. It is observed that SOM can form the opposite direction selectivity sub-domains in a iso-orientation domain.
