Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The author has previously proposed a model of the basal ganglia (BG) ; The model assumes that drive, i.e. the function of selecting desirable actions, is the most fundamental function of BG. In the present study, several predictions-mainly on electroencephalogram(EEG)-are derived from the model, using auxiliary hypotheses. These predictions have shown good coincidences with clinical data. Further, a model prediction on the period of reverberation in BG-thalamo-cortical loop coincides strikingly with an estimate from animal experiments. The model appears to have gained strong support from those unexpected coincidences.
