Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper points out the similarity between the feature map and morphological operations, which have been widely used in image processing in recent years. First, we modify the learning rule of feature map and construct a new network, which is able to operate morphological operations. The proposed modification within the framework of neural networks extends the potential availability of the feature map and facilitates to operate morphological operations within the framework of neural networks using a parallel computer in future. We also generalize the concept of morphological feature map and show that the proposed network can be applied in image processing fields where morphological operations shall be combined together with adaptive operations.
