| Abstract(in English) | We focus on the formation of hand shape which is one of computational problems in human grasping movements. We investigate the relation between the formation of hand shape and the object recognition through paychophysical experiments. In the experiments, the subjects were asked to form their hand shapes to grasp each of 15 objects. The experimental data when the subjects formed hand shapes without touching objects was similar to the data when the subjects grasped objects actually. Both data included the information on the size and shape of objects. The experimental results suggest that the internal representation of objects on human grasping movement is obtained in the human brain and hand shapes are computed on the basis of the internal representation in advance. Moreover, we develop a five-layered neural network model in order to examine whether the hand shape can be computed from visual information through compressed data. After sufficient learning, compressed information which includes the properties of objects was extracted in the units of the third layer. The results suggest that the hand shape can be computed from visual information through compressed data. |
