Countermeasures against Traffic Noise on Sidewalk

Abstract(in English) Utilizing BEM, We numerically estimated the traffic noise reduction brought by the countermeasures taken on the sidewalk of a traffic road, such as sound absorptive paving, sound absorptive low-height-barrier or planter bed along the walk. The decrease of sound level due to the sound absorptive pavement is estimated as from 1 to 3dB around 1 meter high above the ground. Almost same reduction is obtained by 0.75 meter high barrier and flower bed with sound absorber on their reflective plane. But the noise level reduced area is greater for the barrier.
