Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Twelve years have passed since MIDI was conceived.Initially,it was used for connecting different models of electronic musical instruments together and having them play simultaneously. Since then,we have seen an increase in ways that MIDI can be used. This parallels the advances being made in the instrumenis themselves. Currently, electronic musical instruments play a role wherever music is produced.Making orchestrations that can be performed aittomatically is a creative endeavor that is now within easy reach of even the amateur musician. Recently, the ability of MIDI to provide reliable playback became an issue. This lead to the creation of the General MIDI System. We can expect to see MIDI used for Karaoke, and as a way to control a variety of non-musical devices.
