The Characteristic of Error of the Expansion and Contraction of time of CD Player and Evaluation of Reproduction of High Order Sensations

Abstract(in English) We have challenged to clarify the problem of sound quality of digital audio systems focusing on the reproduction of the high order sensations. We have discovered that the time error from 140 to 700ns of expansion and contraction exist in an analogue output signal of CD Player, and that the longer the time distortion induce the poorer the reproduction of "atmospheric". To clarify the cause of generation of time distortion, we have measured the jitter of clocks of CD Player. We have found a clock jitter related with the jitter of PLL circuit, but we have not found that relation between clock jitter and the expansion and contraction error of time of hundreds of nsec.
