Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper discusses how the laterality of the tone with ITD is affected by the masker presented simultaneously or temporally. In the experimental paradigm of simultaneous masking and temporal masking, the psychometric functions of detection and laterality of the tone with ITD were obtained. The result of the experiment shows that the lateralization of the tone with ITD is affected by the masker presented with a signal tone simultaneously or temporally. In case of temporal masking, the threshold of laterality increases, as ISI between a signal and a masker decreases. This phenomenon can be considered as the masking effect on lateralization by the preceding or succeeding tone. The masking effect on the laterality of the tone with a preceding masker is greater than with a succeeding masker. This result shows the precedence effect of laterality of the tone signal.
