Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A new noise reduction system is proposed. It is based on speech/non-speech identification, spectral subtraction with a frequency weighting function and loss control for removing residual noise. Various kinds of environmental noise were reduced by the proposed system, such as Hoth noise, and noise generated by air conditioners, cafeterias, city halls, stations, tunnels, wind, machines, printers and cleaners. The system shows excellent performance to about a l0 dB signal to noise ratio or larger. Furthermore, noise has been reduced by using a multi-microphone system as an acoustic noise suppresser with the proposed system.
