Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report shows the results of supplementary and preliminary investigations which aim at adjusting automatically the speech volume on public address system in response to the change of environmental noise level. First, change of the most comfortable volume for listening to speech, described as optimum speech volume, by difference of speaker is examined by means of listening test. Second, several models which predict the optimum speech volume from non-weighted octave spectrum of noise using neural network are composed and compared with previous models using A-weighted octave spectrum. The predicted optimum speech volume is subjectively evaluated by means of listening test. Finally, we make trial of some simple volume control patterns for intermittent noise.
