The Shape Similarity Search System for Japanese Tableware

Abstract(in English) With the growth of computer power and network communications, it is expected that modeling and reuse of real world objects will increase and that it will become important to be able to search and manage a large amount of 3D model data. We are studying 3D shape similarity search techniques and developing a fast 3D object retrieval system for a large amount of model data. We implemented the system so it could retrieve based on the shape similarity of pottery and porcelain tableware of a Japanese style. The shape retrieval is done according to level of detail and from the two or more viewpoints. This system currently holds multiple shape features for over 500 pottery and porcelain samples in its 3D model database.
