Evaluation of Information Retrieval Method using Structured Index

Abstract(in English) Only with keyword-based retrieval, which is the major method in document retrieval, it is difficult to improve retrieval effectiveness due to high dependence on statistical word distributs. Thus we have proposed a method to enhance retrieval effectiveness using grammatical dependency relationship between words. In our method, we first make structured index represented by binary tree through dependency analysis and compound nouns analysis based on word bigram. We have shown that our method is superior to the keyword-based retrieval through experiments on our prototype system. In this paper, we describe our methods and evaluate them through retrieval experiments on larger database covering more fields.
