Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have previously proposed a method for automatically constructing a large-scale knowledge base of words from machine-readable dictionaries. This knowledge base includes needless attributes of words and needs more attributes. In this paper we propose a method of refining the above mentioned knowledge base of words. This method consists of acquiring new knowledge of a word by reconsulting the constructed knowledge base, adjusting the weights of the keywords, and statistically eliminating useless keywords. The previously constructed knowledge base, which contains knowledge of 40,000 Japanese daily-used words was employed in order to evaluate the proposed method. Evaluation shows that each refining step of the knowledge base is effective.
