Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes the multimedia data retrieval system which uses main factors of human sensitivity as a framework for retrieving multimedia data independent of its kind. Using our system, users can retrieve desired data only by specifying sensitive words. The system extracts the characteristic values corresponding to these factors from a piece of digitized data, and stores them together with the original data into a database. A prototype system constructed supports the retrieval of image stills and sound pieces. The system is evaluated, and the satisfactory results are obtained for the retrieval of image stills on potency.
