Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Data-partitioning is the key technology for efficient use of VLDBs. Especially, range-partitioning isolates each partition and can reduce undesirable effects on stored data during database emergencies or maintenance operations. It is also the base technology for many features that help scan VLDBs efficiently. This paper introduces features to assist effective data extraction from VLDBs and how it relates to partitioning technology. Parallel Index Scan, Index Fast Full Scan, and Star Transformation are covered in this article.
