Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Ultrasonic plastic welding using fundamental and higher resonance frequencies simultaneously is studied. Using high frequency, welding characteristics of ultrasonic welding is improved due to the larger vibration loss of plastic materials. As an example, the required vibration velocity of 90 kHz ultrasonic welding system is 1 / 3 compared with that of 27kHz welding system. The required vibration amplitude of 90 kHz is about 1 / 10 that of 27 kHz system. Vibration characteristics of a 26 kHz vibration system clamped at a nodal flange part were measured by a laser Doppler vibrometer. The welding tip part vibrates at maximum velocity of over 4.5m / s(peak-to-zero value). Vibration velocities at a welding tip part at fundamental and higher resonance frequencies under constant driving volatage 100 Vrms, as examples, are 2.35 m / s at f_<00>26.09 kHz, 1.0m / s at f_<01>32.85 kHz, 0.8m / s at f_<02>38.75 kHz, 0.74m / s at f_<03>65.54 kHz and 0.7m / s at f_<04>95.19 kHz. Quality factors at these frequencies are over 300. Welding charecteristics of 1.0-mm-thick polypropylene sheets are measured in the cases the vibration system are driven under combined driving voltages of fundamental and higher resonance frequencies. Welded area increases as number of driven higher frequencies increases. The welded area by fundamental and two higher frequencies is about 3 to 4 times that of the case where only the fundamental frequency is driven. The welding characteristics of ultrasonic plastic welding is improved significantly by driving higher resonance frequencies simultaneously. |
