Abstract(in English) | In this paper,application of line-focus-beam(LFB)acoustic microscopy to quantitative characterization of LiNbO_3 crystals for optical use,with different MgO dopants from 0 to 9 mol%,is investigated by measuring the leaky surface wave(LSAW)velocities. Then the influence of MgO doping on the LSAW velocities is discussed in detail.The LSAW velocities increase monotonically with the MgO content and saturate with more than 5 mol% MgO content.The measured LSAW velocities are compared with the chemical and physical properties of,chemical composition,lattice constant,density and Curie temperature.It is found that this LSAW velocity change results essentially from the chemical composition change.This ultrasonic method is very useful for evaluating LiNbO_ 3 wafers, crystals for optical use through measurements of LSAW velocities,because of its much greater resolution than any present material characterization method. |
