Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Acoustic emission was measured during pressure test of a steel vessel with three types of weld defects, namely, insufficient penetration (IP), slag inclusion (SI) and blowhole (BH). The relations between the load cycles and emission events, and between the defects and source locations were investigated. In addition, for digital signal processing of acoustic emission signals, a matched filter was constructed based on the impulse response of acoustic emission transducers, which was measured by a reciprocity calibration. The effectiveness of the newly proposed matched filter was shown for improving the signal to noise ratios and identifying the signal sources.
