Ultrasonic Seam Welding System of Metal Plate Specimens Using Complex Vibration Disk Welding Tip Vibrating in Transverse and Torsional Vibration Modes

Abstract(in English) Ultrasonic seam welding of metal plate specimens using at 27kHz complex vibration disk welding tip vibrating in transverse and torsional vibration modes is studied. The complex vibration disk welding tip part is driven by a oongitudinal vibration system through a one-dimensional longitudinal-torsional vibration converter. The complex vibration disk welding tip 5mm in thickness and 42 mm in diameter vibrates in elliptical locus. Using a complex vibratin welding tip, thick plate specimens can be welded with a uniform and large area weldment. Aluminum plate specimens 0.3 mm and 3.0 mm in thickness were successfully joined with weld strengths almost equal to specimen strength. Aluminum plates 50mm in width were successfully joined by the system.
