Multi-Layered Composite Ultrasonic Transducer Employing Air-gap Structure

Abstract(in English) This papar aims at discussing the possibility of applying air- gap structure to the development of multi-layered composite ultrasonic transducer operating in VHF and UHF ranges.Theoretical analysis suggests that low-loss and wide-bandwidth transducers could be realised by the optimisation of the device struture.The ultrasonic transducer having the air-gap structure was constructed, and conversion loss of 11.6dB and bandwidth of 7.8% were obtained. The transducer was also applied to non-destructive testing,and performance of the transducer was evaluated.
