Trapped-Energy AT.cut Quartz Resonator with Groove around Main-electrode

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a trapped-energy type AT-cut quartz resonator with a groove around the main-electrode. The energy trapping characteristics of the resonator can be controlled by the dimension of the groove, independently of the main-ehectrode size. Theoretical prediction is performed for thickness-twist mode in isotropic case. The effects of the groove are as follows: 1) the difference in the resonance frequency between the main-mode and the inharmonic spurious mode is expanded more than l0% and 2) the displacement at the plate edge can be decreased considerably.These effects are confirmed by the finite element analysis.
