Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The optical measurement method using the laser beam is described for the quantitative measurement of acoustic fields in the medical high power applications. The light beam is refracted in the acoustic field because of the gradient of refractive index in the media generated by sound pressure. We consider that the characteristics of acoustic field can be measured using the laser beam refracted by its acoustic field. In order to confirm the validity of the method, the acoustic field generated by the PZT circular-plane transducer was measured for comparing with the characteristics obtained by the conventional hydrophone. We also measured harmonic contents, wave distortion with nonlinear effect and subharmonics of the n/2th order caused by the cavitation in water.
