Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The authors have already proposed the novel tomographic reconstruction method for phased array pulse-echo imaging. This method is based on focusing onto a circular arc by convergent beam along a phased array and divergent beam along the normal to the array. This method offers an arbitrary range hemi-spherical cross-sectional image with high resolution, it is, however, difficult for conventional B-mode image to obtain such a high resolution normal to the cross-section. We have already confirmed the fact by experiments using a steel small ball. In this paper we investigate the feasibility of this technique to the numerous number of point scatterers like a biological tissue by computer simulation. Since the received echo signals are fluctuated as a speckle region, quardrature detection is used to obtain a projection for the echoes. It is shown that a real part and an imaginary part of the projection data sets are independently applied to filtered backprojection method and reconstruct the distribution of a scatterer density.
