Experimental study of multibubble sonoluminescence intensity

Abstract(in English) To clarify the relation between a sound field and a reaction field in sonochemistry, intensity of multibubble sonoluminescence (MBSL) in a rectangular cell filled with distilled water was measured changing experimental conditions such as frequency, amplitude, water depth and temperature. There is 20% fluctuation in the measured intensity and this is attributed to a random phenomenon of MBSL. The luminescence intensity depends not only on resonant frequency of the transducer but also on resonance mode of a standing wave field in the cell, and is very sensitive to the water depth. The temperature change, which is inevitable in a cavitation field, also affects the resonance mode in the sound field. The amount of dissolved air has influence on the luminescence intensity and the latter shows good correlation with the amplitude of the second harmonic component in the sound field.
