Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The effects of ultrasound exposure on the living body can be divided into thermal and non-thermal effects. In this study, the thermal effect was considered and temperature elevation due to ultrasound exposure was examined. To get more knowledge about the mechanisms of temperature elevation upon ultrasound exposure, it is important that the relationship between the temperature elevation and the acoustic characteristics of agar phantom and the relationship between the structure of phantom and their acoustic characteristics are investigated. Thus, the attenuation constant, sound speed and back scattered power of agar phantoms including with different particles were measured. It becomes obvious that the acoustic properties of tissue-mimicking materials can be controlled by compounding several kind of particles. The effect of particles in agar phantoms on the acoustic properties and temperature elevation caused by ultrasound exposure were measured.
