Ultrasonic Monitoring of the synthesis of Organic - Inorganic Interpenetrating Polymer Networks

Abstract(in English) The silica - polyacrylic acid (PAA) composite is one of the organic-inorganic interpenetrating polymer networks (IPN) which have both advantages of the organic and inorganic materials. This composite can be obtained making use of the sol-gel synthesis of silica glass, however, it is very difficult to create the ideal interpenetrating networks. In this study, the making process of this composite has been observed using a simple ultrasonic pulse spectroscopy. From the ultrasonic wave velocity monitoring, we have pointed that the homogeneity of the final product can be estimated.
