Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Magnetometer utilizing a wide bicrystal junction is developed. The sensor makes use of the magnetic field dependence of the I-V curve of the junction. First, dependence of the I-V curve on the junction width is clarified from the simulation and the experiment. It is shown that the junction width should be less than 5λ_J for the sensor application, where λ_J is the Josephson penetration depth. Next, magnetic sensor is fabricated by coupling the junction with a width of 20 μm to the flux focusing plate with an area of 400 μm × 400 μm. The magnetic field noise of 12 pT/Hz^<1/2> is obtained in the white noise region, while the value of 25 pT/Hz^<1/2> is obtained at f=1 Hz. These values are comparable to those obtained with the SQUID having the same area of the pickup coil. Finally, it is pointed out that the noise current that flows the electrode produces the magnetic field noise in the case of wide junctions.
