High-frequency wideband detectors using high-Tc Josephson junctions

Abstract(in English) Using high-Tc Josephson junctions made of YBa_2Cu_3O_<7-δ> film deposited across MgO bicrystal boundary, we have studied their responses to the high-frequency electromagnetic radiation at wideband frequencies of 50GHz to 3.1THz and operation temperatures of 70K and 40K. The direct responses from 50GHz to 760GHz at 70K and from 300GHz to 3.1THz at 40K have been observed, indicating that the detectors can be realized to cover about a decade frequency band at one operation temperature and two decades frequency band with combining measurements at two different temperatures using only one junction. Also, it is found experimentally that the highest response frequency and maximum value of the normalized response are both proportional to the I_CR_N product of the junctions. In addition, discussed are the spectral linewidth and the highest responsible frequency, as well as the detection to the signal including several monochromatic irradiations with different frequencies.
