Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The distributed superconductor-insulator-superconductor (SIS) transmission line resonator has been exploited in a low-noise heterodyne fixed-tuned waveguide receiver in the 600-720-GHz band. The mixer employs two half-wave or full-wave distributed SIS long junctions connected in series each with a quarter-wave transformer impedance matching. These devices have been fabricated with conventional optical lithography. Preliminary results have been obtained 1.4μm wide with 11μm long junction with current density of about 7kA/cm^2, we measured temperature 160 - 240 K is obtained. However, the achieved RF bandwidth is only about 30 GHz and the center frequency is around 600 GHz. A simulation, which takes the shift of some design parameters into account, indicates similar behavior of the SIS mixer. We are planning to design a SIS mixer with these new parameters to improve the performance.
