Josephson Plasma in Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_8+δ detected by Nb/Al-AlO_x/Nb Junction

Abstract(in English) We fabricated Nb/Al-AlO_x/Nb Josephson junctions on ab-plane of Bi_2Sr_2CaCuO8+δ(BSCCO)single crystals to detect the Josephson plasma in BSCCO. We also fabricated Nb/Al-AlO_x/Nb Josephson junctions on Si wafer as references. Both junctions showed resistively shunted junction properties. Only for the junctions on BSCCO single crystals, we have observed clear periodic step structure on the current-voltage properties. A characteristic frequency corresponding to the voltage spacing for the step structure is about 50~60 GHz, which is in a good agreement with the Josephson plasma frequency of an underdoped BSCCO. It is implied that the Josephson plasma in BSCCO interacts with the ac Josephson current of the closely coupled Nb/Al-AlO_x/Nb Josephson junctions.
