Sub-mm Wave Harmonic Mixing Using YBCO Step-Edge Josephson Junctions

Abstract(in English) We have fabricated YBCO step-edge Josephson junctions which were irradiated by millimeter and SIS-millimeter waves.During the substrate milling process,the step angle of the substrates were controned using a metal mask,When the step angle was 20 degrees,we obtained Josephson junctions,the charadteristics of which are consistent with the RSJ model.The junctions were irradiated by submulimeter waves and it was shown that the junctions responded up to 1.2 THz.The junctions have been used as mixers in the 100 GHz band and as harmonic mixers in the.100GHz LO and 700 GHz RF band.We have observed beat signals between the 7th harmonic of a 100 GHz and 700 GHz signals.Furthermore we estimaed thd quasi- optical conversion losses of the junctions.
