Observation of charge Kosterlitz-Thouless transition in granular thin films

Abstract(in English) We have investigated Charge Kosterlitz-Thouless(K-T)Transition in Pd granular thin films.In the temperature dependence of I-V characteristics,we observed nonlinearity with I∝ V^α at low tempe ratures,and found a universal jump in a with decreasing temperature at T= 7.98K where a changes from 1 to 3.Moreover,we measured Rs- Tcharacteristics,and observed the relationship R∝ exp £b(T-T_KT>)^-1, 2>!,with T_KT>=8.0K.This T_KT> value is very c lose to T_KT> derived from I-V characteristics.A theoretical T_ KT> value,which is estimated using the activation energy,was larger than the experimental results.The discrepancy was attributrd to the size of charge soliton which is smaller than the system.Simulation results of electron conduction properties in two dimensional array of SET junctions coincided well with the experimental results.
