Fabrication and mm-and sub-mm-wave Properties of High-Tc Ramp-type Josephson Junction, on MgO

Abstract(in English) We have successfully fabricated ramp-type junctions on MgO substrates using an SrTiO_3(STO) buffer layer and we have studied the mm-and sub-mm-wave range properties of these junctions. Using STO buffer layers, we couled deposit the films with standard deposition conditions for the junctions on STO substrates and the quality of the PrBa_2Cu_<3-χ>Ga_χO_<7-δ>(PBCGO) barrier and YBa_2Cu_3O_<7-δ>(YBCO) counterelectrode was improved compared to those deposited on bare MgO with low-depositon temperature. The junctions clearly showed Shapiro steps under irradiation of mm-wave(100GHz) and sub-mm-wave(0.762THz). We observed Josephson emission at 50GHz from a junction on a STO buffered MgO substrate at 17K. Measured values of spectral characteristics-maximum emitted power and line-width-were similar to these for classical junctions made from low temperature superconductors. We have also confirmed mixing in the self-oscillating mode using mm-wave(100GHz) and sub-mm-wave(0.762THz) signals.
