Josephson characteristics of YBaCuO/PrBaCuO/Au-Ag/Pb junctions

Abstract(in English) YBaCuO, PrBaCuO/Ag-Au/Pb junction characteristics were investigated to obtain an insight into the possible origin of the anomalous proximity effect reported for all-oxide junctions utilizing a PrBaCuO barrier layer.Josephson characteristics were observed for junctions with the PrBaCuO layer thinner than 10 nm. These junctions also showed an anomaly in their differential conductance characteristics,which could be ascribed to the superconductive gap induced in the Au-Ag layer by the proximity to Pb.These results indicate that the electron transport across the thin PrBaCuO layer in the junctions is governed by a tunneling process.Discussions were given for the possibility that inelastic tunneling through localized levels in PrBaCuO dominated the temperature dependence of junction conductance as well as the nonlinear current-voltage characteristics observed for the junctions with thicker PrBaCuO layers.
