Photodoping Effects in YBCO Thin Films and Step-Edge Junctions

Abstract(in English) Visible light illumination effects on YBCO thin film constrictions and step-edge junctions are investigated using a 632. 8 nm He-Ne laser which is coupled to an optical fiber with a power density of up to 300 W, cm^2.A persistent photoconductivity and a clear photoinduced T_c enhancement are observed even for thin films with a T_c as high as 87 K and larger effects are observed for lower-T_c films with lower oxygen contents.These variations result from the increase in the hole concentration in the CuO_2 Plane.It is demonstrated that the critical current of both the constrictions and step-edge junctions can be controlled in situ by varying the cumulative photon dose.
