Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have made travelling-wave type Ti diffused LiNbO_3 optical modulator using metal superconducting electrodes. Then the operation of the modulator applied DC signals has been observed between room temperture and 4.2K, and the one applied microwave signals in the frequency range between DC and 15GHz had been observed 4.2K. The result show that DC modulation is dependent of temperture, and that the band width increase by shielding plane. This experiment indicates a possibility of using optical modulators at low tempertures and realizing good performance of the modulators employing superconducting electrodes.
