Improvement of Properties for YBaCuO/PrBaCuO/YBaCuO Trilayer Junctions

Abstract(in English) We have demonstrated improvement of junction properties for YBaCuO/PrBaCuO/YBaCuO trilayer junctions, using a backing plate of Cu and Al foils between substrate and sample holder to ensure the uniform substrate temperature during deposition of trilayer films, and controlling the film composition precisely to reduce the precipitated particles on the surface of the films. All junctions with a barrier thickness of 35nm and dimensions of 3 × 3 ~ 10 × 10μm^2 showed RSJ-like current-voltage characteristics with some excess currents at 4.2K. For the 88 junctions on the substrate, the 1-σ spreads of Josephson critical current density Jc and normalized junction resistance R_NA were obtained to be 34% and 25%, respectively, which is comparable to the results of ramp-edge type junctions.
