Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Small-sized intrinsic Josephson junction stacks have been fabricated by fine processing technology on cleaved crystal surfaces of Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_8, a layer-structured high temperature superconductor with the Josephson coupling between superconducting layers. A clear superconducting energy gap structure is observed in the current-voltage characteristics for a stack of 40 junctions, while no gap structure is observed for stacks of over 100 junctions due to the suppression of superconductivity. The I_cR_N product is approximately 5 mV, which is less than one fifth of that of the conventional junctions. The observed characteristics are consistent with the 2-dimensional d-wave superconductivity under the influence of the nonequilibrium superconductivity effect.
