Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Cellular Automaton(CA) is promising as a powerful information processing unit which can solve optimization problems or perform image processing in a very small circuit with very high speed. It is well known that such kinds of problems cannot be solved efficiently with use of von Neumann type computers. In this paper, we have studied CA actions in a Single Junction Interferometer (rf-SQUID) network based on numerical simulations. The rf-SQUID is employed to construct a system which showed CA behavior. It is shown that the features of rf-SQUID, such as non-linear characteristics and multiple input/output, are very effective for obtaining CA behavior. It is also shown that the operation of CA, which is synchronous update of the discrete state of each cell, can be controlled simply by means of setting up local transition rules.
