Preparation and Characterization of Tl_2Ba_2CaCu_2O_δ Thin Films

Abstract(in English) C-axis oriented Tl_2Ba_2CaCu_2O_δ thin films have been prepared on MgO with good reproducibility by annealing them in an alumina capsule sealed by a gold gasket. The structure and electrical properties of these thin films have been investigated. It has been found that the crystalline alignment of the thin films depends on the annealing temperature, the Tl composition of the pellets for Tl compensation, and the film thickness. It becomes difficult to obtain the c-axis oriented thin films when the film thickness is increased. The zero-resistance temperature T_ of c-axis oriented thin films is above 90 K while that of randomly oriented thin films is below 80 K. In addition, the critical current density of the thin films depends on the decreasing process of annealing. The highest T_ is 108 K and the highest critical current density Jc is 4.5X10^5 A/cm^2.
