Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Network services are evolving from the traditional "black-box" model towards the "open-and-programmable" one, in which end users can implement what we call Private Services and customize the way the network handles their traffic. By shifting some computation to the network tactically, these services can significantly lighten the workload of system administrators. This paper proposes a novel network architecture, WANAPS (Wide-area Active network Architecture for Private Services), designed for wide-area network service platforms. The WANAPS helps service administrators to identify network nodes suitable for the deployment of new private services and provides both administrator-level and user-level control of these services. The WANAPS also allow distributed collaboration by enabling communications among different service components.
