Abstract(in English) | This paper deascribes evolvable optical systems and their applications developed in National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). There are three evolvable optical systems: (1) evolvable fiber alignment system, (2) evolvable interferometer system, and (3) evolvable femtosecond laser system. The alignment of the μm resolution is necessary for the conventional optical systems. Therefore, it typically takes a long time to align. In order to overcome this problem, we propose evolvable optional systems that can align automatically the positioning of the optical system by genetic algorithms (GAs) in a very short time compared to conventional optical systems. In evolvable fiber alignment system, it can align automatically the positioning of the five directions in three minutes. In evolvable interferometer system, it can align automatically the interferometer using the plane mirrors. In evolvable femtosecond laser system, it can align automatically the positioning in three hours, (in conventional system it took more than three days by the technicians). Moreover, the automatic alignment also made possible to realize the compact implementation. |
