Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In order to improve the performance of genetic algorithms, parameters such as a crossover probability, a mutation probability, and a population size should be examined carefully. It is difficult, however, to find the best (or better) parameter specifications by examining all possible parameter specifications preliminarily. In this paper, we apply an adaptive genetic algorithm (AGA) to flowshop scheduling problems for minimizing the makespan (i.e., the maximum flowtime). In AGAs, probabilities for genetic operators arc defined by fuzzy rules automatically in order to cope with the difficulties in defining parameter specifications preliminarily. We examine several crossover operators and mutation operators for genetic algorithms and show the effectiveness of the AGAs. |
