Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Existing OCR(Optical Character Reader)system has several serious problems, such as segmentatiom problem. However,in recent studies on OCR systems,it is found that the context information,e.g.,words sequence, car increase the accuracy of recognition of character. In this paper,we describe about a mecharism for segmentation of hand- written characters using the techriques from DAI(Distributed Artificial Intelligence). Under the proposed method, two kind of agents are introduced,i.e., low-level agent and.high-level ageut.Low-level agents matches a segment of a character with own pattern, and high-level ageuns manage and provide knowledge of a domain. These two kinds of ageuts wmmunicate and act cooperatively to chage segments as well as to correct errors in the maching of patterrs.
